Larry Kaminski, 72, of Kansas City, KS passed away October 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2020 at Porter Funeral Home, Lenexa, KS. Burial with honors will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, immediately following. Memorial contributions may be made to Toys for Tots. Larry was a sponsor for many years and asked that we continue contributing on his behalf.
Larry was born in Kansas City, KS to Larry F. and Dorothy Kaminski on January 14, 1948. He was a member of St. Joseph St. Benedict Catholic Church. In his younger years he was in Boys Scouts and achieved the highest rank/achievement attainable by becoming an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Bishop Ward High School and went on to graduate from Pittsburg State University with a Master’s in Education. Larry served in the United States Marines during Vietnam. Larry married Janice Moody on August 8, 1970. They celebrated their 50th anniversary this past summer. Larry began teaching and coaching football after graduating from Pitt State. He later became the office manager for C.F. Bender Company where he retired from. Larry enjoyed landscaping, painting, history, and being a Papa. He will be dearly missed by his family.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, sister Doris Ann, and brother Bob.
Larry is survived by his wife Janice of the home; daughter Christy Knox and Jim of KCMO; daughter Kelly Mattox and Andy of Arkansas; son Larry Kaminski and Lacie of Shawnee, KS; and grandchildren.
Larry is also survived by his sister Janet Morffi (husband Henry), Judy Wagner (husband Tim), brothers Paul Kaminski, and Tim Kaminski (wife Cindy). As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
