Lisa Ann (Breitenstein) Swofford, 55, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away September 6th, 2020. She was born May 18th, 1965 to John “Jack” and Rosemary Breitenstein of Kansas City, KS. Lisa attended Bishop Ward High School and transferred to Bishop Miege High School her Junior year, which gave her strong ties to both the Wyandotte County and Johnson County communities. She attended the University of Kansas. Lisa married Michael Swofford April 16th, 1988 and had two children who she loved unconditionally. She is survived by her father Jack Breitenstein, five sisters: Dianne Dercher (Larry), Mary Baska, Janet Roberts (Tom), Louise Sachen (Joe), Linda Verbeck (Ron), her two brothers: John Breitenstein (Teresa) and Bob Breitenstein (Linda), Sister-in-Law Anita Driscoll (Jeff), her husband Mike, her children Luke (31) and Jackie (28), and her many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Rosemary, Mother-In-Law Karin, Father-In-Law Thom, and Brother-In-Law Dennis Baska. Lisa worked for BMA/Metlife for over 30 years and held many positions. She was an avid Kansas City sports fan and life-long Jayhawk. Some of Lisa’s favorite moments were spent on Sunday’s in the summer at Gardner Lake with her family. She loved nothing more than spoiling her two “Grandogs” Kovu and Charlie. Lisa was a kind, funny, loving person taken from us too soon and loved by so many. A private ceremony due to CoVid restrictions will be held for family at St. Mary’s/ St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Mary’s/ St. Anthony’s Church or a charity of your choice.

Dear Uncle Jack and cousins, We were so, so sorry to hear of Lisa's passing. She was a beautiful soul inside and out, always cheerful, loving, and kind. She will be greatly missed by all of us. Rose has always talked about the first time she saw Lisa back in the sixties when were dating, and I took her to the lake. Lisa was about 11 months old and playing in her playpen, and she looked up at Rose and smiled with her big blue eyes shinning. Rose fell instantly in love with her from that day on. It's so sad that we can't all be together to comfort you all in person, but that's 2020. Rest in peace dear sweet, Lisa. We love you! God Bless you all... Rosemarie and Dan

To the family of my dear sister Lisa, I could barely breathe, when I heard of the passing of dear Lisa. So many fond memories as we met as kids somewhere between the age of 18-22 at the BMA tower and later at MetLife. Our relationship went from colleague to soul sisters in no time. So many fun times, at work and after work. Fast forward to the 2020, I am so grateful that God allowed us to spend the day together early March before the pandemic hit; lunch, peachwave frozen yogart and then you came to help me pack up my house. I will miss your infectious laugh, huge heart and just your compassion for others. This Chiefs season will not be the same without you!! Forever yours Soul Sister Brenda Elaine. May Gods peace and comfort be with the Swofford/Breitenstein family. Sending special hugs to Jackie, Luke, Mike and your dad Jack.

When I heard the sad news of Lisa's passing, my mind drifted back in time... and there was Lisa, as an adorable little girl visiting the farm, and at Grandma's house for Easter....then there she was as a cute and spunky teen at a family gathering....and then finally, there she was as a beautiful "all grown up" accomplished woman and wife and mother when I fortunately got to see her several years ago. Sweet memories of such a sweet younger cousin! To all of Lisa's family, and a special prayer & hug for Uncle Jack, please accept my heartfelt sympathy. I am so sorry for your loss.
