Robert J. (Bob) DeHaven passed away peacefully in his home on September 6, 2020. A Rosary and Visitation will be held Friday, September 11, 2020 at 5:00pm at Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa, KS. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 10:00am at Cure of Ars Catholic Church in Leawood, KS. The Burial is immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, KS.
Bob was born January 22, 1942 in Abilene, KS, the eldest child of Robert E. and Eulala DeHaven. He grew up on the DeHaven Produce Farm near Solomon, KS.
Bob was a Music Man and kept a song in his heart his entire life. He always loved band and choir in grade school and high school and played trumpet for the VFW, sunrise services, and other events around Abilene, KS. He attended Emporia State University where he received a degree in Music Education. After teaching choral and instrumental music, Bob went on to be a District Sales Manager of band instruments, pianos, and organs, which took his family to Tulsa, Dallas, Winston-Salem and eventually to Overland Park.
He is survived by his Abilene High School sweetheart and wife of over 57 years, Joyce DeHaven, siblings, Everett (Jean) DeHaven and Karen (John) D'Agostino, sons, Todd DeHaven and Eric (Jennifer) DeHaven, grandchildren, Kylie DeHaven, Dylan DeHaven, and Haley DeHaven, and many nieces and nephews.
