Robert (Bob) J. Bowren, 67, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, March 13, 2020 at the home he shared with his wife of 38 years, Ann (Spence) Bowren. He was born on March 4, 1953 in St.Johnsbury, VT to Robert L. Bowren and Catherine (Cogan) Bowren. Both preceded him in death.
Bob is survived by his two sons, Robert Randall Bowren (David Petersik) of Shoreline, WA and Robert Joseph Ferrari (Kary) of Tacoma, WA, as well as 4 grandsons. Bob had one sister, Heather Weinstock who preceded him in death.
Bob grew up in Palatine, IL, attended Palatine High School and College of DuPage, majoring in computer science. As a younger man, Bob worked at resorts from Vermont to Florida. He helped build and work shrimp boats in Florida. He then worked as a mechanic in several fields until becoming an IT Computer Specialist for Gallagher-Bassett and later Gateway, Citibank, State Street and IBM. He retired at the end of 2019 from BankOnIt.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 20 from 3-5 pm at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS 66215, with a rosary at 3. A memorial celebration of his life is being planned for Saturday afternoon. More information will be provided at or before the visitation.
