Barbara L. Thomas, 73, Kansas City, KS, died Saturday, February 8, 2020 at The Piper Assisted Living. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. with the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 17, at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to ASPCA or the American Cancer Society.
Barbara was born December 15, 1946, the daughter of Robert "Buck" and Edith Masch Thomas. She was the granddaughter of Rudolph and Louisa Masch and Robert and Beatrice Thomas who were the owners of the Thomas Cafeteria located on Minnesota Avenue in Kansas City, KS. She was 1964 graduate of Washington High School and received an Associate Degree from William Woods College in Fulton, MO and then attended the University of Kansas.
Barbara had worked as a District Advisor for the Girl Scouts of America and then as an Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Social Sciences at Kansas City Kansas Community College retiring in 2012. Her life passions had been her rescue dogs, collecting Dragons and Thimbles, gardening, Star Wars and sewing, knitting embroidery and quilting and serving as a former President of the Greater KC Embroidery Guild.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Edith J. Campbell, her nephew Thomas Barton Campbell and his wife Jenny and her great niece, Ansley H. Campbell.
