Sep 20, 1950---Jan 18, 2020

Revé Marie Butler was born September 20, 1950 to parents, Lorenzo A. Gnuse and Enna Marie Spicknall Gnuse of Lewistown, MO.  She passed peacefully on January 18, 2020. Revé graduated from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO in 1972 with a Business Administration degree and moved to Kansas City, MO with her husband, David Wilson, to teach high school business subjects at Center High School for 4 years, while completing a Master’s degree in Counseling.  After a divorce, Revé moved to Shawnee Mission South High School, where she met the love of her life, Dennis A. Butler.  In 1981, Revé accepted a Training Manager position with DST Systems, Inc. during their high growth period of processing mutual funds.  She was a Human Resources Manager for DST until 1998 when she joined EPIQ Systems, Inc. as a V.P. of HR.  In 2001 Revé accepted a position as Regional Director of HR with Grundfos Pumps, an international company, and assisted in moving the sales and marketing division from Fresno, CA to Olathe, KS.  Revé decided to switch careers to real estate in 2003 and built a nice real estate business through the rest of her career.

Revé enjoyed holding leadership positions throughout her career.  She was Chair of the Board of Intensive Family Counseling, an agency providing counseling and family services for several years.  She served on the board of The Central Exchange, a 900 member women’s professional organization for 10 years, and established a Leadership Program there.  For 17 years, Revé worked part-time with youth on diversion in Johnson County.  Revé has been active with her husband, Dennis, in their church, the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection West in Olathe where they have participated in the church’s incredible growth.

Dennis is a Psychologist and wrote a book on Enneagram theory, called The Road to Wisdom.  He also developed an online assessment tool to determine Enneagram Type.  Revé and Dennis taught a corporate course on the Enneagram for years and have been teaching it on a personal level for their church.  It has been a great passion they have shared to help people improve their relationships.  They have also shared a great love of their cats and having a date night each week at the movies.  Dennnis and Revé purchased an RV in 2017 and were able to do some travel before Revé became ill, and they were blessed to do a lot of travel outside the US for many years.

Revé was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Julia Gnuse, of Irvine CA.  Revé is survived by her husband of Overland Park, a step-daughter, Diana Butler in Merriam, her uncle, Don Gnuse of Quincy, IL, sister-in-law, Bonnie Wiltrout (Jim), brother-in law, Gary Butler (Connie), niece, Britney Fuchs and nephew, Brett Butler of Lenexa, two nephews in Texas, Chris and Clint Rapp, nieces, Meredith Emerson (Independence) and Courtney Transier of Chicago, and three cousins, Chuck Gnuse, Lewistown, MO, and Pamela Gnuse and Barbara Freiburg of Quincy, IL.

A 9:00 am visitation and a 10:30 am Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 24, at Church of the Resurrection West (24000 West Valley Parkway, Olathe, KS). Immediately following, the inurnment service will take place at Church of the Resurrection Leawood (13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS).

Condolences

The Rev. James C. Emerson Jan 20, 2020

Dennis, Feel no guilt in laughter, she’d know how much you care. Feel no sorrow in a smile that she is not here to share. You cannot grieve forever; she would not want you to. She’d hope that you could carry on the way you always do. So, talk about the good times and the way you showed you cared, The days you spent together, all the happiness you shared. Let memories surround you, a word someone may say Will suddenly recapture a time, an hour, a day, That brings her back as clearly as though she were still here, And fills you with the feeling that she is always near. For if you keep those moments, you will never be apart And she will live forever locked safely within your heart.

Dennis, I have fond memories of Reve' from our early days when we both began our careers in real estate at the same company. I did not see her often at Kansas City Regional Homes, as I think we both worked from home most of the time, so I was unaware she was ill. She was always a beautiful person inside and out with a wonderful, caring soul, and she will be greatly missed! Andrea Findley

Dear Dennis, All Family Members, & Numerous Friends of Reve, Renee & I met in 2001, when she began working at Grundfos Pumps with my late husband, Len Petersen (Aug.3, 1947 to Jan. 18, 2006). We were with only a very few employees who moved from the Grundfos Factory U.S.A. With Marketing & Sales, located in Central CA to Olathe. The factory stayed in Central CA. Len & I both loved & cherished Reve’s friendship! She was such a warm, loving & caring woman. She was very educated & greatly talented. She as a major player at Grundfos. When my late husband died, she was very faithful & compassionate to visit me outside the metro, where I had to be at a Rehab Hospital after breaking both of my ankles one month after my husband’s death. She kept in touch, always loving & encouraging me. One of my favorite memories is when she invited me to a documentary in a small theatre, which I didn’t even know existed, along with a few other people. I really enjoyed her emails describing her & Dennis’ adventures in their RV!! I saw the cute, playful & funny side of her personality as she described their foibles, adventures & wonderful memories❣️ She was a one-of-a-kind sweetheart of a friend. I prayed long & hard for her healing, along with so many other people, but thus is the mystery of God’s ways! I’m thankful that God is All-Loving, All-Knowing. And Always Good & Faithful❣️ I’ve learned over nearly 70 years of life that God’s ways can be trusted, for He never allows anything to touch His children’s lives unless it is for their good & for His glory, however painful those experiences may be❣️ As the old hymn states, “We’ll Understand Ir Better By and By!” I send my deepest condolences & prayers to Dennis, the family, & for all who loved Revé❣️ We shall meet soon in our Blessed Heavenly Home, where there will be no more tears, no more pain, no more suffering, nor any more death—just Perfect Love, Joy, Peace, Kindness, Goodness, & Faithfulness spent with our Awesome & Loving God & His Holy Angels❣️❣️❣️
