I had the pleasure to play drums in the early 70's with Frank on steel guitar, Gene Hill Sr. And Gene Hill both on guitar and Joe Hall on accordian. I Was a high school classmate of Gene Hill in 1965 to 68. Never pass up an opportunity to learn from another musician. God Bless!

My family and I are so sorry for your loss. Frank has been a dear friend for close to 40 years. We considered Frank ( and Nancy) to be a part of our extended family and keep them in our thoughts and prayers. There is no doubt in my mind but that they are together in a much better place.

Frankie taught me how to play the guitar, and certain songs will always remind me of him. I could talk to him about anything, and I thank him for our conversations. I thank him for the music and the memories. He will be missed much. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Frankie Kay was a great man. A teacher, an entertainer, a musician, a philosopher, and just an all around great guy. He is someone who had a great influence upon my life and will be remembered with love. I love him dearly and he was like a second father to me. He was always kind, compassionate and positive. He taught me how to play guitar, run a business and most importantly taught me how to live life. I wish I could be there to share with the family my sympathy for his passing and my joy that he will be reunited with Nancy in heaven. I will miss him but know that he will continue live on in my life as well as the numerous lives of the people he touched while he was with us.

I don’t know what made me think of “Frankie Kay” today but I did and found this sad news about him. I took guitar lessons from Frankie as a high school student and again after college in the 80s. Sometimes we would chat quite a bit during lesson time. Once I even stopped by his studio just because I was having a bad day, and he made time for me and cheered me up. I think I still have our cassette tape of duets together with his call outs like “Here’s that red hot Angela!” I will always remember him fondly. Condolences to your family.
