Linda Ehart Kesler, Age: 80

Linda Ehart Kesler, age 80, Lenexa, KS, retired bookkeeper, teacher, homemaker, mother, and grandmother died December 1, 2019 after a long bout with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Coffeyville, Kansas. She attended Bancroft grade school, and Southwest High School in Kansas City MO., and Wichita State University. She received Bachelors of Arts degrees in Spanish and in French with a minor in Education from Wichita State University graduating Summa Cum Laude. She taught Spanish and French in the Shawnee-Mission school system. Then she began having children and changed to full time home making and child rearing. When her youngest child was in Junior High School she returned to work. First as a Gray Line Tour Guide driving a 12-passenger bus all over the metropolitan area. Then she went to work for a CPA. She kept books for many small businesses in the metropolitan area. She decided she needed education ininvesting and joined two investment clubs. She championed disciplined investing and using the Better Investing's Stock Selection Guide. She encouraged her children's activities, as a Camp Fire leader, and for her oldest to achieve Eagle Scout.

 

She belonged to Bible Study Fellowship for several years for the full cycle covering all the books of the Bible. She was also an avid reader being in two book clubs. She was a member of the Lakeview Chapel. Previously she belonged to the Blue Valley Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she was a Spiritual Life Minister, Deacon, and sang in the Choir. Before that, shewas a long time member of Country Club Congregational United Church of Christ where she served as President of the Women's Association and as a member of the Board of Nurturing and Caring. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta social sorority. She was a member of the U.S. Tennis Association playing with her team in regional USTA tournaments. Earlier she belonged to Nall Hills Country Club playing in Inter-Club tennis matches against other clubs. She was a member of the Kansas State University Endowment Association President's Club. She was a member of the Blue Valley Quilting Guild, and Odd-Friday's Quilters. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Kansas Women's Golf Association. She was a member of the Overland Park and the St. Andrews 18-hole golf leagues for many years. She was a licensed teacher in Missouri and Kansas. She was a gritty survivor having lost her kidneys while vacationing in Hawaii in 2003. After 14 months of dialysis she was blessed with a kidneyfrom her sister Jennifer. That gift restored her life. She is survived by her husband, Joel R. Kesler of the home, a daughter, Laura J. Cooper and her husband Craig, of Leawood, two sons, Joel W. Kesler and his wife Karen, of Overland Park, and Michael

 

A. Kesler and his wife Erin of Lee's Summit, two sisters, Janice Johnson of Winter Park, Florida and Jennifer Ehart, of Kansas City,MO, a brother, Stephen W. Ehart and his wife Cindy, of Overland Park, and seven grandchildren. There will be a private service and burial ceremony. A celebration of her life will be held at Lakeview Village in the Heritage Activity Center in the main building, 9100 Park St., Lenexa, Ks. on Friday December 6 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers gifts of remembrance should be sent to the Lakeview Village Foundation, 9100 Park Street, Lenexa, KS 66215.

Our family was so sorry to learn of Linda's passing. All of us thought back to good times shared with the Kesslers many years ago.
