Sep 06, 1932---Nov 20, 2019

Teresa Lane (Sullivan) Quinn, 87, died on November 20, 2019 at her Claridge Court residence in Prairie Village, Kansas.  The second daughter of Leo Joseph Sullivan and Sarah Bernice (Cookson) Sullivan, Terri graduated from St. Therese Little Flower and Bishop Hogan High School. She earned two degrees in elementary education, in 1951 and 1953, from College of St. Teresa (Avila).

After graduation, Terri taught at Border Star Elementary School in Kansas City, Missouri and later at St. Ann’s Catholic School in Prairie Village, Kansas. In 1955, she married Joseph D. Quinn, and they raised three children, Colleen, Martin and Bridget.

Terri was an active volunteer in many Catholic charitable organizations, including the Ladies’ Auxillary of St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Ladies of Charity. She served as president of Mothers’ Clubs at both Bishop Miege and Rockhurst high schools, and was a Girl Scout leader.

Terri and Joe were among the founding patrons of the ongoing Catholic Charities Snow Ball, and served as co-chairs for the annual event in its infancy.  They were long-time members of St. Ann’s Parish, where their children attended elementary school. Terri was involved in the church’s Circle Society and Parish school functions.

As an active member of several social groups – including the “Hoganites,” the ‘Rockhurst  group,” “Quinns, Kellys and Kearys,” and the St. Ann’s Bridge Club – Terri was a friend to many.

She was an artist, creating many paintings that were displayed in her home, or sold at charity events. Terri was an avid reader, with a particular interest in history and mysteries. Her grandchildren remember Terri’s ability to entertain them with homemade paper dolls, “monkey lunches,” dress -up parties, Mexican train games, trips to the neighborhood pool, and many cousin sleepovers.

Terri was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Joseph David Quinn; her sister and best friend, Elizabeth Marie “Betty” (Sullivan) Berg; her brothers-in-law, Fr. Bernard D. Quinn and William J. Berg; her son-in-law Robert F. Martin; and her great-grandson George Kent Quinn.

She is survived by her children, Colleen Marie (Quinn) Hodes and her husband Dr. Steven B. Hodes; Martin Leo Quinn and his wife, Laurel W. Quinn; and Bridget Ann (Quinn) Martin; nephews William M. Berg and Christopher J. Berg; nieces Kathleen (Berg) Callegari and Debra (Berg) Knowles; eight grandchildren, Dr. Brian J. Hodes and his wife, Dr. Jessica (Harrison) Hodes; Timothy R. Hodes, and his wife Kari (Friedlander) Hodes; Colin M. Quinn, J.D, and his wife, Micala (Charlton) Quinn; Alexa M. (Hodes) Hewitt, and her husband Matthew Hewitt; Brendan M. Quinn, J.D. and his wife Jennifer (Tuel) Quinn, J.D.; Mallori B. Martin;  K.T. (Katie Theresa) (Martin) Nuckolls, and her husband, Dr. Drew Nuckolls; and Sarah M. Quinn; and seven great-grandchildren, Mclaren Quinn; Hudson Hodes; Alexander Hewitt; Houston Hodes; Thomas Quinn; Bridget Hodes; and Sloane Hodes.
