Larry was born November 13, 1955 in Kansas City, KS to Stephen and Rita Kennedy. He attended St. Peter’s Cathedral grade school in Kansas City, Kansas and KCK Community College where he earned an Associate’s Degree.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Stephen and Rita Kennedy, his brother Patrick Kennedy, and his son Brian Stephen Kennedy. Larry is survived by his daughter Amanda Zobkiw, his grandchildren Brian Stephen Kennedy II, Kaitlyn Kennedy, Trinity Bishop, Joe Thomas, Brian Thomas, Cameron Zobkiw, and two great grandchildren, brothers Stephen Kennedy, Jr. (Debbie), John Kennedy (Marilyn), Robert Kennedy (Pam), sisters Joan Fotovich (Lawrence), and Eileen Kennedy, his loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.
Larry deeply loved his children and grandchildren. He knew the small things in life meant so much to them. Whether it was a day of fishing, a trip to McDonalds, a small gift, a caring ear, or words of advice, his kind heart knew no limits. He gave his time, energy, and love to his family and those he cared about.
Larry was proud of his Irish ancestry. He carried dual citizenship in the USA and Ireland and spoke often and fondly of his Irish heritage. He fulfilled a long-time dream when he made the trip to what he considered his true homeland, Ireland. He spoke of the connection and peace he felt while standing on the shores of the Dingle Peninsula overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Larry was honored to have served his country in the United States Army. He spent time in Germany where he used his Top-Secret clearance while monitoring foreign communications. After serving his country, Larry returned to the Kansas City area. He spent his career as a US Postal Letter Carrier, retiring in 2017. Larry made many friends during his time as a letter carrier with both co-workers and customers on his route. Not one to sit idle, Larry took up a part time job at Advanced Auto Parts Warehouse in Johnson County. With his easygoing nature, he quickly made friends with his co-workers.
Larry believed the Lord would welcome him into heaven, and although his family mourns our loss, we know he is home with his savior and surrounded by his beloved son Brian and other family members.
