Carl G. Allen, age 82, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the Advent Health Shawnee Mission Medical Center.  Graveside Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.

 

Mr. Allen was born September 13, 1937, in Union City, Missouri.  He was married to Patricia Ann Darr October 30, 1993 in Kansas City, Missouri.  She survives of the home.  Other survivors include step-son, Joe (Kathy) Pluff; step-daughter, Tracy Boan; grandchildren, Chelsea Finn, Blake Finn, Anthony Pluff, Lisa Pluff, Alison Pluff, Jake Boan, Joe Boan; and great-grandchild, Jaylen Pluff.

 

Mr. Allen was retired from the United States Air Force.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served as a medic.  He later owned and operated a car care business for over twenty years and finally worked at Sam's Club for the final 20 years of his career.

 

Carl cherished the time he spent with his loving wife Patty, step-children and grandchildren.  Also, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's events including Ali's musical outings as well as Joe's band, "For the Broken" concerts. He used to sing in the church choir before he married Patty.

 

Carl and Patty loved playing Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause for the Post and the Belton Christmas parade.  He was also Santa Clause for Sam’s Club.  He loved fishing, playing darts, and collecting rocks.  He had a collection of rocks and gave them to everyone in the family.

 

He loved being quartermaster at the VFW.  He was in charge of all the fish fry dinners and pancake breakfast and fireworks stands every year. He was an excellent cook and loved it.  He had a very strong faith and loved God.

Patti I’m so sorry to hear of your loss of Carl. My heart breaks for you. Carl was a great person and friend. Randy and I had so many fond times with you and Carl at the VFW. He also was a great boss to me during those five years working with him there also. He is at peace and I hope you find comfort with all the beautiful memories ❤️💔❤️
