Jo Corriston 95 was a beautiful loving mother, wife and daughter who passed away peacefully October 27, 2019 at Lakeview Village Care Center, Lenexa KS.   

Jo was born May 28, 1924 to Joseph and Thelma Burks in Denver, Colorado.  The family moved to Oakland, California two years after her birth.  Jo lived in California until she met Roy William Corriston, a sailor, in 1944.  They were married March 10, 1945 and moved to Kansas City, Kansas in 1946 after the birth of their daughter Mary.  

Roy and Jo had four children Mary Blythe (Holly John) Janis Dow (William), William Corriston (Patty), Mark Corriston (Libby). Jo was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Thelma Burks, husband Roy William Corriston, sister Martha Muir and brother Bruce Burks.

She is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, sisters Marjorie Ungaro of Oregon, Shanti Haydon of California and sisters in-law Arlene Bruner, Dawn Burks, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.  

The family also acknowledges the wonderful care and love Jo received from the nurses and staff at Lakeview Village Care Center during her stay.  The family requests donations: Bethel Community of Christ Church 8510 Leavenworth Rd, KCK 66109 or Central Avenue Center Of Hope 11 N 15th, St Kansas City, KS 66102.

What a blessing that you had her for so long. We know you all cherished her as she did you. We hope you will take comfort in the fact that there’s such a great reunion going on right now.
