Juanita (Juana) Vaca of Kansas City, Kansas passed away peacefully in her home on October 15,2019, with her children by her side.
Juanita was born, November 7, 1932, in Kansas City, Kansas to Salvador and Ignacia Villa. She met her true love at the age of 16 and married him in August 1951. His name is Ramon Vaca. They remained together in love for 67 years. She proceeded then to start a home and raise their nine children. Juanita was a stay at home mother and tended to the care and well being of her children and home. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, in Armourdale, until it was closed and then became a member of St. Joseph/St. Benedicts (All Saints) Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Altar Society of St. Thomas Church and a room mother to many classrooms there. Her popcorn balls were a big favorite of all the students. She loved cooking and baking, pies, pies, and more pies at the holidays. But by far were the fresh hot tortillas she made at her kitchen table. Ready to be eaten when her children came home from school. Juanita helped at the neighborhood community centers with the local children and teenagers. And many would follow her home with her own children and play basketball in the driveway.
Juanita was a member of the Cursillo, and also along with her husband was a Lay Minister and taught Marriage Preparation Classes. Although her children were her priority, she loved traveling with her husband especially to the home they built in Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon. Her parents Salvador and Ignacia Villa. Her brothers; John Frank, Salvador, and Nieves. Her sisters; Catalina, Mercedes, Conception. Her son in laws; Patrick Casper, Charles (CJ) Washington and her daughter in laws; Sieglinde (Kiki) and Susie.
She is survived by her and Ramon's children. Raymond of El Paso, TX, Ralph (Theresa), Valerie, Ronald Sr. (Keri), Victoria, Vanessa (Steve), Venetia (Adrian), and Roland Sr. all of Kansas City, KS and Veronica of Roeland Park, KS. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Agnes (Kika) and Gabriella (Mammie).
Visitation will be 5 - 7 pm, Monday, October 21st, 2019 at Porter's Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas. Rosary will be said at 7 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019 at All Saints Catholic Church, 811 Vermont Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.
