While working in Kansas, he met the love of his life, Geraldine “Geri” Metcalf in Arkansas City, Kansas.

While in Great Bend, Don established and operated Exploration Inc.  He was a member of the American Legion. Upon retiring, Don and Geri moved to Arkansas City, Kansas where Don enjoyed sharing the country life with his family. Later, Don and Geri moved to the Kansas City area to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Don loved spending time with his family and enjoyed many vacations to his beloved Vermont.

He was loved and respected by many. Don was known for saying "a good man is hard to find."  Papa Don was a good man! He will be missed.

Dear Geri, Kristi, Becky, Jennifer and family, My prays go out to all of you. Uncle Don was a wonderful man, full of humor, love and commitment to family. My warm childhood memories of him were staying up late on the farm and hearing him tell funny stories that made us all laugh. Peace to all of you in this difficult time. Love, Teresa

Becky, Geri and family, What a wonderful and devoted Papa you had and how deeply he will be missed. Although, I didn't know him well, each time I saw him he made me smile. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a funny wit about him. I could see why everyone around him loved him so! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
