Mrs Barbara Higgins was on godmother. She treated and loved me as a daughter of her own. She is very missed but know she has been and is an angel that surrounds us always and forever. Love you all.

My children, Chris and Laura, greatly benefitted from having Mrs. Higgins as their teacher for multiple years at St. Peter's. Her expertise and wisdom were shared freely with those students lucky enough to be in her classes. Rest in peace good and faithful servant.

I just wanted to express my condolences to your family and thank you for sharing Mrs. Higgins with all of us. She was, in retrospect, one of my best teachers. Fair, respectful, enthusiastic and wonderfully kind to all her students. She will be missed and has made a significant impact on me and, I can imagine, many others.

Barbara was my 8th grade teacher at Cathedral for just one semester in the fall of 1967. Yet, as others have said, she made a significant impression on me, having been a kind of "life coach" before the term was coined. She helped me to love history. I'll never forget seeing her once in the 1980s in the parking lot of the Milgram's store at 38th and State. My toddler sons were with me and I remember this from our conversation that day some 30+ years ago: "Never tell your little ones that they are bad. Some of their behavior won't be so good, but never tell a child he's bad." She mentored every day of her life, I would guess, through words and actions. Shouldn't we all aspire to leave such a beautiful mark on this world!

Dear Pat, Heidi and Higgins Family, We lost a real gem, didn't we. I have known Barb since 1942 when my family moved to KCK from Eldon, Mo and we grew up living a block apart. She and Norm graduated from Wyandotte HS together in 1953 and she was a dedicated Reunion Committee member when Norm was Chairman. I wrote her one last letter which I am sure she did't get before she passed. But I know she is looking down from Heaven saying, "yes, Marilyn, I read your letter". Rest in peace, sweet girl. You are sorely missed and loved. Marilyn Fendorf Gunderman

Aunt Barb as I recall referring to her as was more of a mother than anything. I will always remember the time I lived with them in the early fall of 1974 . . . and the trick she pulled on me with Cottage cheese in lasagna. Always loved and always missed.
