Robert (Bob) August Valentine passed away peacefully at his home in Overland Park, KS. Sunday September 8, 2019 at the age of 86, after a long struggle with cancer. He was, born February 1, 1933 in Tremonton, Box Elder Co, Utah. First son of August Ray and Ida Watkins Valentine.
Friday September 13th : A Family Visitation at the Porter Funeral Home followed by a Grave-side Service at 3:00 at Floral Hills Cemetery, Gregory and Blue Ridge, K.C., MO.
Saturday September 14th 1-2pm Memorial/Funeral Service followed by Reception/Visitation at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 71st and Hadley, Overland Park, KS
In 1951 Bob went to work for the Diamond Engineering Co., later renamed The Rylie Equipment & Contracting Co. They contracted for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. Bob was with them for 18 years building telephone pole lines. He worked in a variety of side jobs eventually left the pole business and went into business with Norm Clark in the Heating and Cooling Business. They qualified for chartered trips to places like Hawaii, Tahiti , Dominican Republic, and Bahama which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Bob married Carol Ann Nelson Rossin in the Logan Utah Temple. Adding Carol Ann’s two children and later a son, brought Bob’s children to a total of ten. Bob would often declare how proud he was of all the children and their families, including all the step children. He loved them all with equal happiness. Bob. Loved. Family! Family History was his speciality.
Bob was an Eagle Scout and received a Life Time Scouting Service Award. Bob was fearless and would try anything. He loved horses, anything western, K-State, K.C. Chiefs, and the K.C. Royals. Bob was active in all aspects of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His favorite quote, given with a smile, as his illness progressed was “It’s all a part of “The Plan”.
Bob was preceded in death by parents August Ray and Ida Watkins Valentine; sons Robert Randall Valentine and David Mark Valentine, Half-brother Dwight Valentine. Survivors include his wife Carol Ann Valentine, children: Michael Lee Valentine (Fran), Tracy Lynne Katzenberger (Michael), Gregory August Valentine (Michael), Jennifer McIntyre (Rod), Scott Allen Valentine (Vicky), Jeffrey Edwin Valentine (Carrie), Eric Edward Rossin (Esther), Laurie Ann Harrell (Jerry), daughter-in-law Cindy Valentine. Brother Lynn Ray Valentine (Deanna), step-brother Gerald Woodyard. He leaves 28 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and joyfully expecting 2 more great-grandchildren
