     Irma A. Royal, 85, of Shawnee, KS, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019.  Visitation will be from 3:30-5:30 PM Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia Street, Lenexa, KS with a Rosary at 5:00 PM.  Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Friday, August 30, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 12800 W. 75th St. Shawnee,  KS 66216. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Toys for Tots.

     Irma was born July 26, 1934, in Buffalo,  NY.  She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, the PTO and former Girl Scout Leader.  She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas A. Royal, Sr., son Thomas A. Royal, Jr., siblings; Robert J. Brown, Joan Bauman, Leo Brown, Elizabeth Rosling, Mary Ann Kaminski, William Brown, Richard Brown and Francis "Bud" Brown.  Irma is survived by 2 daughters Diane (Scott) Getz, Maureen Hannoun (Kevin Huckaby), grandchildren; Zach (Laura), Paige, Mackenzie, Joe, Sara, Liz, great granddaughter Charlotte Ann and many nieces and nephews.

I did not have the privilege of knowing irma but I am certain she lead a blessed life because my daughter, laura, held her in such high esteem. She was laura's confidante and grandmother by marriage to zach. They had a special closeness that can be described as enviable...irma had that certain something that endeared her to my child.....she surely did Gods work by making the world a better place in the corner of the world

Dear Maureen and Diane, I am so sorry to hear about Irma's passing. Tonight something reminded me of her and I thought I should see how she was doing. And such sad news! I met her through TOPS in Shawnee a long time ago, but I'd try to catch up with her once in a while. (I've lost contact with all those wonderful women. Granted, we are all getting older.) I thought she was a wonderful person and we had many laughs together. She was so easy to visit with and was always so cordial when we got together. I remember back when Zach was her first grandchild and how devoted she was. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. I loved her and will chat with her now in heaven.
