Nov 25, 1929---Aug 09, 2019

Lorraine Modrcin, 89, of Overland Park, KS and formerly of Strawberry Hill in Kansas City, KS entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 9.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 14251 Nall Ave., Overland Park, KS, on Saturday August 17 at 12:00 PM.  Visitation from 10:30-12:00 prior to the Mass.  Interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, KS.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Sister Servants of Mary, 800 N. 18th Street, Kansas City, KS.

Lorraine was born and raised on Strawberry Hill in KCK.  She was employed by the Sunflower Council of Camp Fire Girls for many years.  She was a member of Zanta International and the Womens Chamber of Commerce.  She was an active volunteer at her church and in the community with a lifetime devotion to the Rosary and Our Blessed Mother.  Her great joy and honor was leading pilgrimages to "Our Lady of Snows" in Belleville, IL.  She is survived by her son Steve, daughter-in-law Sandy and grandson Nick, with whom she shared a special loving bond.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Ivan "Red" Modrcin, daughters Barbara Ann and Diane, her parents Pete and Mary Miller and her beloved sister Loretta Glanville.

The family would like to thank Catholic Charities Hospice and Sister Servants of Mary for their compassion and loving care for Lorraine, especially Donda, Dina, Ruby, Donald, Olene, Lori for her music, Sister Isabell and Deacon Jim.

Steve's friend for over 30yrs! ,Kansas City ,Missouri

Lorraine, and (honest) I respected her so highly that I would always address her as Mrs. Modrcin,...was one of the best testimonials to the pure Love of Christ that I've ever known. Christ lived in her, and manifested Himself regularly in her heart. My love goes out Steve, Sandy and Nick. No matter how old she was, or that He thought her "ready" for Him..., she was still a mom her. She will always be mom for Steve. I pray that he only remember all the happy and tender times---all the times God gave her the Grace to help another! There were many. Help us all, now, Mrs. Modrcin!

Lorraine was a special lady, I found out during our first visit. She loved praying and enjoyed our prayers together. We swapped stories and joked with Steve. She had a mother’s tender heart like Mary, the mother of God. My heartfelt prayers go out to you, Steve, and your family. May you remember all the love Lorraine gave you all and may you feel her arms wrap you in comfort.

One of Ivan's Physicians ,Leawood ,Kansas

I met Lorraine when I was taking care of Ivan for his cancer. I made many house calls when Ivan was unable to travel for appointments. Lorraine and Ivan exuded God's Love, both for each other, & Christ, but also for everyone they met. I was so privileged & blessed to have met them. I will never forget them.

Dear Steve: Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as you mourn the passing of your Mom and celebrate her life! I have many fond memories of her kindness and thoughtfulness at family gatherings and the friendship she shared with my Mom. She was so special that she was called "Aunt Lorraine" by the Bednars and was the godmother to several of us including me. Peace and comfort, Tom

Cousin ,Overland Park ,Kansas

It has been many years since I have seen Lorraine, but she was always so pleasant to speak with and had a smile on her face. I know my parents, Mike and Bernice (Modrcin) Resovich, who are both deceased now, would enjoy visiting with her when they saw her at Cure of Ars Church. I am sure there is a grand reunion with Ivan and everyone up in heaven now. May they all rest in peace. My sincere condolences to Steve and the family.
