On Saturday, August 3rd, Gray Newman Bell Jr., a loving husband, father of 4, and 8 grandchildren, passed away at the age of 69.   

Gray was born on January 28, 1950 to Gray Newman Bell Sr. and Willa Nell Bell in Kansas City, Kansas.  On March 9th, 1974, he married the love of his life Sandy Bell. They raised one son, Jeremy Bell, 3 daughters, Trisha Hughes (Mitch), Anna Bell, Ashley Gander (Jason), and 8 grandchildren, Bryce, Mitchell, Rilee, Holden, Addison, Jocilynn, Emarie, and Lincoln. 

 

We lost a remarkable man. Gray Bell's humility and generosity were unmatched. He always had a warm smile and hug, and always had a twinkle of mischief in his eyes. Gray would always listen. He would stop what he was doing to help another in need. His life may have been cut short, but Gray's legacy continues through his wife of 45+ years, his 4 adult children, and his 8 grandchildren. 

 

Gray was preceded in death by his parents Gray Sr. and Willa Nell Bell.   He is survived by his wife Sandy, his 4 children, Jeremy, Trisha, Anna, Ashley, his 3 sisters, Julia, Beverly, Mary, his 8 grandchildren, Bryce, Mitchell, Rilee, Holden, Addison, Jocilynn, Emarie, Lincoln, and his enormous family.

 

Gray's visitation is Wednesday, August 7th, 5-7pm at Porter Funeral Home and Crematory. The funeral will directly follow the visitation at 7pm. Porter Funeral Home and Crematory, 8535 Monrovia St. Lenexa, KS 66215.

 

Burial for Gray with family members is Thursday, August 8, at 2:30pm. Burial is located at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd. Lansing, KS 66048

 

 Everyone is welcome to the celebration of Gray's life at Sandy and Gray's home at 5pm on August 8th, following the burial.  Any donations please direct to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (www.cff.org)

Friend of his Sister Beverly ,Broken Arrow ,Oklahoma

I received notification through an email from Gray's sister Beverly. She and I met at Shawnee Mission NW High in Shawnee. She was in my wedding and I was in her's. We have kept in touch over the years especially when family events this close happen. Although my husband knows Beverly, he never knew her family since we met and lived in Florida. Yesterday while driving together I told him that Beverly's brother Gray had passed. I found myself telling him about how Gray was a Very Kind person and how he Cared about his parents and his siblings. I told him how he used to maintain Beverly's car when she needed help and this was in the 1970's before she married. And when I read the obituary it confirmed testimony of his Kindness.
