Jesse Lopez, Age: 80
Oct 6, 1938 -- Aug 1, 2019

Jesse is preceded in death by his father, Atanasio Diaz Lopez and his mother, Casimira Acero; his daughter, Angelina, and his siblings, Florentino, Antonio, and Ralph.  He is survived by his wife, Wilma; children: Steven, Jesus, Jr., Catherine (Stan Boch), David, and Debbie (Todd Boren); grandchildren: Jordan, TJ, Ryan (Melissa) Jennifer (Michael Turner), Eagan, and Caeden; great-grandchildren:  Atlantis and Bailey; and brother, Reuben.

Jesus Anthony Lopez was born on October 6, 1938 and went to be with the Lord on August 1, 2019.  Legend has it that he was born in a box car and lived his early years there. He entered the Marine Corp in 1956 at seventeen and moved to Camp Pendleton in California for boot camp.  He was then stationed in Alaska for one year.  Within that time, he married Wilma West in 1958, and was honorably discharged in November of that year.  Jesse loved his country and continued to serve in the reserves for three years.  For the majority of his adult life, Jesse worked for United Parcel Service as a tractor trailer driver and retired after logging thousands upon thousands of miles over his 35 years.

Throughout the sixty-one years of their marriage, Jesse and Wilma had six children, losing one with indescribable heartbreak, Angelina in 1965, loved and adored six grandchildren, and two beautiful great-granddaughters.  Every single member of the family filled Jesse with so much joy, and his most earnest prayer was that they each turn their lives over to Christ.

When he was twenty-seven, the Holy Spirit, working through family friends Paul and Bessie McGillicuddy and the preacher Billy Graham, brought Jesse to the Lord.  He was his faithful servant until his last days on Earth and is now rejoicing in His glory with his little Angie in his arms.

Jesus Anthony Lopez went to be with the Lord on August 1, 2019.  He accomplished so much on this Earth, working tirelessly to provide for his family, witness for His Lord, and preparing for his journey to meet his Lord!  He loves his wife, Wilma, of 61 years with an indescribable commitment.  The visitation will be 10:00 am followed by the funeral at 11:00 am at Mission Road Bible Church, 7820 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS, on Friday, August 9, 2019.  In lieu of flowers, donations to The Down Syndrome Guild of Kansas City or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be greatly appreciated.

He was my uncle ,KANSAS CITY ,Kansas

Deepest of condolences to Aunt Wilma and the entire Lopez Family. Growing up I knew him as uncle Chuy. He was my dad's, Florentino's, little (half) brother. I remember him as fun and friendly. I remember all my dad's brothers and their families would come over to visit when we lived at 3215 Euclid to eat drink, play cards and have a really great time. Prior to his time at UPS I recall uncle Chuy delivered milk to homes for Fairmont milk company. Later on uncle Chuy became a fearless true crusader for Christ. I remember he let my dad borrow his '57 Chevy to take the family to get groceries when our car was in need of repairs. Little did we know his car would become such a classic! I have so many memories I wish there was space to share them all... Love to you and the family... Our Fathers house has many rooms, I'm sure your room is radiant with the light of God's love...
