Geraldine (Jerrie) Lipke, 91, Olathe KS passed away peacefully and with a happy heart on July 10, 2019. Please visit with Jerrie’s family at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9405 Mission Rd., Leawood KS, Monday, July 15 from 9:30 to 10:30am, followed by mass at 10:30am. All are invited to stay for lunch. Jerrie will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery.
Jerrie was born on September 24, 1927 in Evanston IL. She grew up in Chicago and graduated from St. Gregory’s High School in 1945. She married the love of her life, Bob, in 1947. Bob’s career started in Chicago and took the family to Minneapolis and then ultimately to Overland Park where she remained for over 50 years. Jerrie was the most special mom to her 4 daughters: Carol, Janet, Pam and Kathy. Family traditions, vacations, and card games were epic. She loved being involved in both church and community: Tri-Phi Sorority, Girl Scouts, St Monica’s Circle, and more bridge groups than we can count.Her love for life was witnessed by everyone she came in contact with. She knew no stranger.
She is survived by daughters Carol Otis (husband Paul), Janet Lipke, Kathy Blanchard (husband Jeff). Grandsons, Brad Otis and Brian Otis (wife Emmaley). Great grandson, JP Otis.
A sweet sentiment from one of her grandsons:
“Last night my grandma passed away. She is one of the kindest and sweetest ladies who now gets to be with my Grandpa and Aunt Pam. My Grandma and Grandpa created a bond for a family that I think is pretty amazing. She will be missed!”
Jerrie’s family would like to thank you for coming to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her honor to Children’s Mercy Hospital or to Saint Luke’s Hospice House.
