May 04, 1925---Jul 02, 2019

Ruby was the daughter of Adolph and Henrietta [Nattson] Johnson.  She was born May 4, 1925.  She graduated from Osage City High School in Osage City, Kansas and then moved to Topeka, Kansas soon after.  There she met Wendell Burgat and they married August 27, 1949.  They had four children:  Cheryl (Rich) Heftie, Eileen (Ken) Wells, Kay (Ron) Cooper, and Keith (Shelly) Burgat.

Ruby worked various jobs, including a local bakery, and later for the State of Kansas.  Ruby was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Topeka, Kansas.  She taught Sunday School, started the Caravan Children’s Program, and was active in various other ministries in the church.

Vacations to Colorado were common each summer while raising their children.  Ruby would plan, pack up the food and kids, and they would drive all night.  She was always a willing partner with Wendell and his maverick style.  They enjoyed hiking mountains, camping and waterskiing, riding together on their motorcycle from Kansas to Arizona.  They even bought property while there.

Ruby and Wendell eventually both retired and moved to Arizona around 1984.  Ruby always loved her husband/best friend and talked often about how Wendell always loved her, called her his Dolly, and never raised a voice to her.

Ruby and Wendell moved to Olathe in 2015 to be near family.  God blessed them with 22 Grandchildren (including spouses) and 25 Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Burgat, son-in-law, Mike Williamson, and grandson, Dale Heftie.
