Anthony S. Rood, 59, Overland Park, KS, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Advent Health Shawnee Mission. Family services were held on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Porter Funeral Home. Tony was born November 28, 1959, in Lansing, Michigan and had lived most of his life in the Kansas City area. He had been a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for over 35 years, retiring in 2015. He had been a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and enjoyed gardening, rebuilding vintage trucks, helping others and loved his family above all. Tony is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diane, 3 daughters, Becky Atkins (Antonio), Stephanie Conyers (Jay), Jennifer Antonucci (Thomas), 13 grandchildren, Carson, Colby, Brooke, Samantha, Ruthie, Isabella, Charlotte, Terrell, Bianca, Aniella, Quinlan, Jamison and Liliana, his mother, Kathryn Williams and 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

To my dear sister-in-law Diane and my wonderful nieces and their families. I know that I was physically around through most of my life, but of the few times I did visit, I was fortunate enough to see how much love my brother had for all of you, and over the last couple years he got to know Tommy, your uncle in a special way. While he took care of his direct family, he always made time for us here in Michigan, even though it was via text messages or his loving and funny messages with images he shared to boost me up as I was going through bad times. When I think of Tony and Diane, I see in my minds eye, the most special couple and family I’ve ever meant. Diane, my sincerest condolences sister.
