Vera L. Fischer, daughter of Oliver F. and Louise Erbs, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Lakeview Village at the age of 95. Vera was born July 3, 1923 in St. Louis, MO and lived most of her life in the Kansas City area. She was united in marriage with George E. Fischer on July 20, 1945 in Bakersfield California and together they raised 3 children. Vera was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with family at her house at the Lake of the Ozarks. Vera also enjoyed gardening, and was lovingly known as "the jewelry lady" at Lakeview since her free time was spent repairing jewelry for others. Vera is survived by 2 children, Gary (Denise) Fischer, Linda (Barry) Bender; 4 grandchildren, Brian Vervynck (Laura), Travis (Tiffany) Fischer, Stephanie Bender (Chad), Christopher (Jessica) Bender; 9 great-grandchildren, Jillian, Joseph, Allison Vervynck, Riza, Damian and Ada Fischer, Trenton Bender Wilcox, Kayden Ausherman and Emma Bender. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, George Fischer, an infant son and a daughter Barbara Vervynck. Vera was a lifelong devout Catholic. Visitation will be held on May 17th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd St., Overland Park, KS from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass immediately following. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers we ask that you take a moment to hug your child, grandchild, or friend and walk in the woods for a moment, an hour, or a day.
