Tania Powell 83, of Kansas City, Kansas died, Friday, May 3, 2019 at the University of Kansas Hospital. Services will take place at a later date.

Tania was the youngest of six children born of Russian immigrants Stella and Jacob Stelmach. Tania grew up with many loved ones around her. She graduated from Wyandotte High school and married Richard Powell her life-long love. Tania worked as a secretary to Mr. F.L. Schlagle then worked in retail many years and retired from K-Mart. She loved being with people and having her family near her. She will always be fondly remembered by many as the K-mart lady.

No one ever left her house hungry and her door was always open.

Tania leaves behind her husband of 64 years Richard Powell, sons Chris, Mark and Jacob Powell, as well as five grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Tania is preceded by her parents Stella and Jacob, her two brothers Jacob and Walter Stelmach, her four sisters Mary Goodrick, Nadine Quizenberry, Anka Andrews, and Olga Walker.
