Frances Rose Blazek, 101, of Overland Park, KS. died peacefully Sunday, April 14, 2019 where she resided at Brookdale Glenwood Village Assisted Living Facility. She was born December 13, 1917 in Redwing, KS to Frank and Philomena Werner Steiner. Frances was united in marriage to John Blazek in 1946 and they made their home in Claflin, KS. where she lived until 2009. They had two sons, Don and Larry. Later in life with health concerns and following John’s death she made her home in Lenexa, KS near her sons. Four years ago she moved to her final residence in Overland Park, KS.  Frances made her living as a homemaker along with numerous other occupations. She worked at a dry cleaners, restaurants, and electronic repair shop among other occupations. She enjoyed baking, planting in her garden-both flowers and assorted vegetables, canning and pickling, and word search puzzles.  She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Claflin. Frances is survived by her two sons and their spouses, Don and Debbie, Larry and Lisa, 3 grandsons -Brian (Sarah), Brent, and Devin, 2 great-grandchildren-Finnley, and Tripp, and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, four brothers and three sisters. A Catholic Mass and burial will take place at Immaculate Conception Church in Claflin on Tuesday April 23rd. Visitation is 11-1 and Mass at 1:00.  Local visitation will be Monday, April 22 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with Rosary being said at 5:00 pm, at Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa, KS.. Memorial donations may be made c/o Claflin Ambulance Fund or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Claflin.
