Jul 26, 1931---Jan 09, 2019

Lyle Roger Srsen passed from this world to the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on January 9, 2019.

Lyle was born in Austin, MN, to Albert and Orietta Srsen on July 26, 1931.  His Father, Albert, died suddenly when Lyle was only 6 years old.  In 1942 his mother married Ralph Garland.

Lyle served our great country honorably in the United States Army earning the Gold Star. After his discharge he married Jeanette Schletewitz of Sanger, CA, in September 1953. They made their first home in Seattle, WA, then relocated in 1955 to the Fresno, CA, area in anticipation of the birth of their only child, Kathleen Joan Srsen.

Lyle worked for BMD, Inc., a building materials distributor, for over 38 years. He moved his family to Stockton, CA, in 1960 at the company’s request, where his career accelerated. Although he started in an entry-level position, he ultimately served as the leader of BMD’s Information Technology department.

Lyle built his life around his wife and daughter.  He loved spending time with them on their yacht, the Trident.  He also enjoyed a variety of recreational activities including camping, fishing, bowling, water skiing, and golf; to name a few.  The family was active in the community and spent many weekends and Holidays with their extended family in the Fresno, CA, area.

After losing his wife Jeanette to leukemia in 1991, Lyle married Beth Felgate of Sutter Creek, CA, in 1993. Lyle and Beth spent 25 years of loving marriage together.  Lyle thoroughly enjoyed his time with, and brought genuine love and affection to, Beth’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

After retiring, Lyle and Beth pursued travel and adventure that took them around the world.  They also made many great friends on numerous trips throughout North America in their GMC motor coach.

Lyle was a Christian and very often expressed gratitude that the Good Lord blessed him with a wonderful life, a beautiful daughter, and two strong and loving marriages.  He was friendly, disciplined, highly ethical, and always interested in doing the right and honorable thing.  He loved good wine, had a great sense of humor, was an avid reader, and was always up for new adventures.  He could fix anything - he was the handiest fellow any of us have ever known.

Lyle’s wife Beth preceded him in death in September of 2018. Lyle is survived by his daughter Kathy (Pete) of Lodi, CA, his sisters Annette Sasser of Blooming Prairie, MN, and Joanne Gulickson of Owatonna, MN, his stepchildren Karen Tangelder of Kapaa, Kauai, Colette Boone (Jeff) of Denver, CO, Steve Felgate (Robin) of Austin, TX, Tom Felgate (Cindy) of Lenexa, KS, Theresa Felgate (Ray) of Wailuku, Maui, and Jennifer Felgate, Denver, CO, nieces Julie Fryer (Pete) of Chatfield, MN, Jennifer Walsh (Bill) of Blooming Prairie, MN, and Rebecca Krug (Mark) of Owatonna, MN, as well as 12 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.  We were blessed to have had him as our loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.  He will be forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life reception will be held in Lyle’s honor at Milburn Country Club, 7501 West 69th Street, Overland Park, KS, 66204, on February 9, 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Lyle’s family looks forward to seeing you.

Arrangements are pending for a reception for friends and family in California.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored by your donations to EveryHeart.org, a nonprofit organization dedicated to heart health, and cardiovascular screening for high school athletes.

Cousin ,St. Augustine ,Florida

Our mothers were sisters ( Derr's) For several early years Lyle was my only cousin. I was a year older than him and we spent many happy hours playing together and getting in to little boy trouble. We were able to keep contact at family reunions in Austin, Minnesota, though we always lived in opposite sides of the country. He was one of the good guys and he had a long happy, successful life. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Cousin ,Aurora ,Colorado

A visit from Lyle and his family , when announced by my mother, Mona (Derr, sister to Orietta), was always greeted with a joyous chorus. My brothers and I would cease our present discussions ( fighting), and help get the house ready. Lyle was just a really cool guy, and so very intelligent. He was so interesting to talk to. Later in life, seeing him at the Austin reunions, was a constant reinforcement of how he was such a great guy, and a wonderful conversationalist. Our wonderful Savior's gain, now that Lyle has transferred his Christian membership to the church triumphant, is our loss on earth. I pray that all of you will be comforted by the knowledge that Lyle now has an eternal residence in the heavenly kingdom. Richard and Marilyn Narveson
