Jun 29, 1953---Jan 03, 2019

If there ever was a reason to burst out in laughter, it was from the never ending jokes of Lewis Michael Rankin. Mike passed away on the night of January 3rd, 2019, at the age of 65. Born on June 29, 1953, Mike was a precious gift to parents Lewis Crawford Rankin and Constance Back Rankin. An older brother to Julie Rankin Daigneault, the family four was never shy of jokes, neighborhood friends and, above all, love. As the family grew and years melted into milestones, Mike married Shelley Reusser Rankin. The couple brought son Kory Rankin (now 30) and daughter Kelsey Anne Rankin (now 27) into this world, starting a life long journey that brought an unyielding joy to Mike.

Mike was the type of man to bring a case of beer (or three) to any occasion, treating family and friends to a good time with his life of the party personality. In his home, he gave his children the life lessons they needed to be the strong and successful individuals they have become today. Whether you are his brother from another mother, his baby sis-yuk, his Scooter, his baby boy, or merely a stranger passing on the street, Mike would always find a way to share with you a smile, a story and, above all, his unrelenting love and joy for laughter and life.

Mike touched the lives of too many to note here, however, his love for each and every one of his friends and family members shines through the somberness of his loss. Here’s to you, Mike.

Lewis Michael Rankin is survived by mother of his children Shelley, son Kory and daughter-in-law Jackie, daughter Kelsey, sister Julie and brother-in-law Mark, and stepmother Elaine.

Dear Shelley and family, So sorry to read of Mike’s passing. Mike and I shared some great memories and fun times living next to each other as kids in Merriam, along with weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks. We had many good laughs together over the years! He was a great guy. Blessings and peace to you in this difficult time. Sincerely, Steve Stock

I worked with Mike for several years. He was always happy and had a joke ready for any occasion. He could put anyone in a great mood and all of us that worked with him still quote some of his best lines. He spoke about his son and daughter often - he was so proud of you both and he loved you very much! All of our lives are better for having known Mike.

I did not have the chance to spend a lot of time with Mike but I really enjoyed the time I did. Just as the memorial mentions- Mike was a lot of fun to be around! I wish I had more opportunity to spend time with him in years past. I know his loss is unmeasurable to his family and my heart and prayers go out to all of you.
