Don J. "Donny" Palermo, 57, Shawnee, KS, died Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday,January 9, at the Porter Funeral Home 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS. The visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 8 at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to an education fund for Donny's grandchildren. Please make checks payable to the Don J. Palermo Education Fund in care of the Funeral Home.

Donny was born July 14, 1961 in Kansas City MO, the son of Dominick Joseph and Joan (Heger) Palermo and was a 1979 graduate of Shawnee Mission North High School. Donny had worked as an optician for various optical shops and was currently working for Vision Care Associates in Shawnee. He was a lover of music, good food, the outdoors and his wife, children, grandchildren and family. He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Joan. Donny is survived by his wife of 13 years, Pam, children and their spouses, Jenny and Matt McElroy, Brian and Anna Palermo, Eric and Megan Logan, Kendra and Ali Khan, grandchildren, Kylan, Aydin, Meyer, Kayde and Reid, his siblings and their spouses, Renee Palermo Sutton and Don, Marcia and Randy Bowden, David and Sherri Palermo, Debbie and Gary Holterman, Jackie Greve, Tricia Strohm, Mary Blevins, Deanna McGuire and numerous nieces and nephews.
