Frances Schnabel, 97, Fairway, KS, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 13, 2018 at her home at Town Village of Leawood (formerly Brookdale Leawood.) The visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Monday, December 17 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 5250 Mission Rd., Roeland Park, KS where the Rosary will be prayed at 9 a.m. The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes. Entombment in Resurrection Mausoleum. Frances' family suggests memorial contributions to St. Agnes Catholic Church.
Frances was born November 10, 1921, in Baileyville, KS and had lived in Fairway KS for 52 years before moving to Town Village Leawood. She was a graduate of St. Vincent's Academy and had attended St. Teresa's College (now Avila University). Frances had worked as a TWA Hostess from 1945-46, and in the accounting departments for Phillips Petroleum, Mann Theaters and Dickinson Theaters retiring in 1983. Frances was a devout Catholic and had attended daily Mass for 75 years and was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church for 52 years. For 25 years Frances had prayed in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel each week and was a member of the St. Agnes Altar and Rosary Society. As a member of Annuciation Catholic Church she had sung in their Adult Choir. Frances had played Bridge in numerous Bridge groups for over 30 years. She was a world traveler, visiting Australia, Sweden, Ireland, England and Wales. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Schnabel, her son, Michael Reitinger, a stepson, Steven Schnabel, and her brother-in-law, Joel Newsom. Frances is survived by two stepsons, Jeffrey Schnabel and David Schnabel, both of Kansas City. Also surviving are her sister, Mary Catherine Newsom, nieces Pam Savitch (Cary) and Becky Dorschner and five great nieces and nephews, all of California. Frances' family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Shawnee Mission Medical Center, BrightStar Care and Kindred Hospice for their love and care given to Frances.
