Ask anyone that knew Lester and they will tell you he had a great sense of humor and told the wittiest and funniest stories. According to his daughter Carol, that humor lasted until a couple hours before he passed. One of his greatest pleasures was sitting on his front porch watching cars and people.

Lester was a cook in the Navy and was head of the galley for many years.  Lester was a good cook but had great difficulty preparing food in small amounts. He was known in his family for his potato salad and strawberry short cake and his iron skillet full of fried potatoes.

At 93 he had a life well lived. His family will miss him. He was one of a group we refer to as the Greatest Generation.  Visitation will be at Porter Funeral Home 8535 Monrovia Lenexa, KS. My fondest memories of Uncle Lester is the summers I spent visiting him and Aunt Betty in Olathe. It would be no surprise to any one that we would find him in the kitchen fixing breakfast in his boxers! He was so funny and always would make me laugh hilariously! He will be greatly missed!
