Roy Norton Wilcox, Jr., 86, of Olathe, KS, passed away peacefully with his wife and family by his side on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Roy was born June 30, 1932 in Kansas City, KS to Roy and Mary Wilcox. He attended Ward High School where he met and married his high school sweetheart Mary "Pauline" Porting. He was blessed with celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary this last Valentine's day. Roy worked as a photo engraver for the Kansas City Star for 35 years when he retired in 1995. Roy enjoyed watching just about any football game, especially the Chiefs and looked foward to Wednesday afternoons when his buddies came over to play pool. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Pauline, daughters Royce (Mel) Smith, Elaina (Sheff) Olinger, sons Greg (Danielle) Wilcox, Chris Wilcox, his sisters Elaine Heck, Joyce (Dave) Dehaemers, brother Harvey (Sue) Wilcox, seven grandchildren, Halston (Abel) Reyna, Lauren (Christopher) Grubbs, Audrey (Tyler) Harrell, Logan Smith, Mackenzie Smith, Aimee (Jason) Studna, Jake Wilcox, great grandchildren Nate Reyna, Brianna Studna, Alison Studna, Megan Studna, Zachary Studna, 20 nieces and nephews, their spouses and countless friends. He was preceeded in death by his brother-in-law, Bob Heck.
Rosary will be 4:45 PM, Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia Street, Lenexa, KS with visitation from 5-7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Ascension Catholic Church, 9510 West 127th Street, Overland Park, KS 66213. Burial following at Resurrection Cemetery, 83rd and Quivira, Lenexa, KS.
