Carolyn Elaine Opitz, 74, Olathe, KS, formerly of Shawnee, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Aberdeen Village. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy, and brother, William, and her husband, OJ. She is survived by her father, sister, 5 children, 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; Carolyn was born on December 14th, 1943, in Detroit, MI. She spent a portion of her childhood in Liberty, MO and then returned to Detroit, where she graduated from high school and met her beloved husband and love of her life, Olger J. Opitz. She moved with her husband and growing family to Shawnee, KS, in 1967. She was a devoted wife and mother. Carolyn’s greatest joy was taking care of her family. She was a true angel on earth.
A family graveside service will be held at 10:00 A. M. Saturday, December 8, at Resurrection Cemetery Lenexa, KS, Prince of Peace Chapel. A Memorial Service for friends and family will be held In the Firestone Chapel at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 14th at the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, KS (BLDG B). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc.
