Oct 04, 1931---Nov 24, 2018

Rosemary “Rosie” Erickson, age 87, peacefully passed on Saturday morning, November 24, 2018, surrounded by love and prayers, at Prairie Elder Care, in Overland Park, KS.

Rosie will forever be known as “Mom” or sometimes “Thelma”, to me, her only child, Kay Erickson; “Grandma” to her granddaughter, Emily Carpenter (Nick) and “Gurmmy” to her granddaughter, Gretchen Fiebig. Born in Wisconsin on October 4, 1931, to Elizabeth “Lilly” & John Lennartz, she grew up as the baby of the family, with her siblings, Bette, Ruth, John & Joe in Cedarburg, WI.

After graduating from Cedarburg High School in 1950 she worked until 1961 when she decided to be the best darn mom she could be until I graduated from high school. In 1978 we moved to Salem, OR to enjoy the Pacific Northwest.  Always full of energy, & organized like no other woman I know, with a list for everything, she began a second career, as a Payroll Specialist at Chemeketa Community College, in Salem.  In 1998, she retired & moved back to the Midwest to enjoy her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sister, Bette, and grandson Eric Andrew Fiebig.

Mom-We can’t thank you enough for the fun, for the laughs, for always listening & listening, for your willingness to always lend a hand, and most of all, for your unconditional support- you made our lives so much better!   You’d rather do something for someone else than for yourself. Your faith was so important to you; always a Rosary in your hand, and never a Mass missed.

As we always said at the end of each and every phone conversation, when we didn’t live near each other, “Love you, miss you”.  Boy will we miss you.

Now it’s finally your turn to be at the top of the list, you made it- you’re in Heaven. No more worries, no more pain.  You deserve it.  Many thanks to both Compassionate Care Hospice & Prairie Elder Care for caring for you with the utmost dignity, kindness & respect in your last month here on earth.

Visitation will be held at 10:00am, with Funeral Mass following at 11:00am on  Friday, Nov. 30, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W 103rd St., Overland Park, KS. Inurnment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.

Kay and family, This is so well written Kay. My heart aches for you'r loss. The joy you must have for her love and memories. You are blessed. For the short time being your neighbor in Cedarburg, your mom blessed our family the first day we moved in. I still remember how blessed we were to recieve you'r gift and friendship. Thank you Kay.

Niece of Auntie Rosie (Rosie's sister, Ruth's, daughter), and Kay's Cousin ,Panama City ,Florida

Dear Kay and Family, I loved Auntie Rosie, your mom and grandma. We were a close family when we were young, and we all lived in Wisconsin (Cedarburg and Port Washington). I have happy memories of Aunt Rosemary (as we called her than). She was kind, pleasant, prayerful and FUN! Aunt Rosie would say "you are silly" when we would just joke about the simplest things while making our own fun without technology then. I was so blessed to talk to her in a long phone conversation within the past few months at her request. I was teary because she told me about her failing health. I feel so blessed to have been in daily contact with Auntie Rosie this past year or more with the help of technology now (as we all live so far apart)! Her perfect (no typos), positive, and encouraging daily text responses to my morning greetings continued until only a little over a week before she went to Jesus! Auntie Rosie is truly missed. God bless you Kay and family, Love, ~Kathy
