Doris Rolleen Marcum, 82, Olathe, KS, died Sunday, November 4, 2018, at the Evergreen of Olathe. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with Funeral Services following at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, at City Center Church 17500 W. 87th St. Lenexa, KS 66215. Burial will follow at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church.
Doris was born on September 3, 1936 in a farmhouse in Parker, KS to Elwin Richard & Eva Lorraine Page. She graduated from Parker High School in 1954 and afterwards continued her education at a Business college in Kansas City, Missouri.
Through her brother, Carl, she met Lavern Eugene Marcum, who after a brief dating period married on November 30, 1956. After Eugene's military service, they made their home in Osawatomie, KS, where they lived for 31 years. They were blessed with a son, David, and three daughters: Debbie, Becky, and Missy.
Throughout her early years, Doris was employed at the State Hospital and Osage Credit Union in Osawatomie, KS. In 1988, they moved to Olathe, KS where they lived for the next 30 years. Doris worked at and retired from North Supply in Gardner, KS.
Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her family, reading, gardening, eating peanut butter and chocolate, quilting, and many hours of games. In the 1980's, Doris made Jesus her Lord & Savior. In the early 90's, she started attending Lenexa Christian Center where she loved Pastor Purkey and her church family. She attended there faithfully and actively for the remainder of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers: Dale, Bill, and Carl.
Her survivors include: daughter, Debbie Hatfield and husband, Joe; son, David Marcum and wife, Tammy; daughter, Becky Norris; and daughter, Missy Dice and husband, David; all of Olathe, KS; also 9 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Helen, Joyce, and Shirley; and two brothers, Frank and Mel.
The family would like to thank Brookdale Hospice, Evergreen Community, and City Center Church for their beautiful display of love. Doris will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
