Shirley was so gracious and loving. She and Don took me in and became my surrogate mom and dad for a while after high school, when I was so much in need. That was almost thirty years ago, and to this day it remains one of the nicest things anyone’s ever done for me. I always thought they were the kindest and most generous folks in the world. I remember Shirley’s belly laugh. And the genuine warmth and caring in her heart that was evident when she spoke. I also remember her Mom voice when she was getting on to Greg, usually for making a mess. I’m glad she never used that one directly on me (I just had to stand witness). But no matter which voice you earned that day, Shirley’s every word came from love. She was a fantastic mother, and it was such a joy a know her. I’m so sorry to learn of her passing. Even though it’s been so long since I was close to her, the loss is heavy on my heart today. I’ll always think of her, and I’ll always appreciate how she made me feel like I was a part of your wonderful family. Please accept my sincere condolences. With love, Tony

We will miss Shirley on her walks with Cletus, her Basset. She and Don, with the dogs, would always stop and talk to us and our dogs. Shirley, along with Don, always had, and have, a beautiful back yard, full of flowers and such. Shirley will be so very missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Alison and Kim
