Jul 19, 1927---Sep 23, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of June Rosabud Walters (Suiter) announces her passing on September 23, 2018 at Brookdale Rosehill in Shawnee, KS. She was 91.
Ms. Walters was born on July 19, 1927 in Kansas City, MO to her parents, Ora and Josephine (Stafford) Suiter. At age seventeen, June worked at Western Union as a skater, skating messages throughout the company all day long. She married Milam Mart in 1945 and lived in the Independence, MO area raising two children, Connie and Craig. Later in life, June married William ‘Bill’ Walters and where they resided in Edwardsville, KS for several years and were both members of the VFW. June worked as a bookkeeper at Firestone in Kansas City, KS for many years and retired from Chapel Hill Cemetery in 1991 as an Office Manager.
Ms. Walters had a passion for reading, staying up late at night reading to her beloved dogs, or as she lovingly referred to as ‘her children’. June donated several hours to charity by crocheting lap throws to cancer patients through Cancer Action and to local nursing homes. In addition, June and her best friend of several years Penny would knit baby hats and booties to donate to hospitals for preemie babies. June loved the Lord and was baptized by her brother Elder Burke Holt in 1994. She was a member of Mount Zion Restoration Branch, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Independence, MO.
Ms. Walters is survived by her son, Craig Mart of Shawnee, KS; her granddaughter Angelica Mart and great-grandsons Nicholas and Colton Quinn of Republic, MO; her granddaughter Charlotte Sesson of Tulsa, OK; brother Jimmy King and wife Jean of Milford, KS; sister Wanda Shepard and husband Larry of Appleton City, MO; sister Patricia Feugate and husband Ralph of Independence, MO; brother Burke Holt and wife Mary of Preston, MO, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter Connie Mart Matthews and daughter-in-law Rinda Mart.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ms. Walters’ life who will be missed dearly. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter.
