Geraldine (Geri) R. Ettinger, 85, resident of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away at Westchester Village on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Geri was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Duane Ettinger in 2016 and also her parents, Arthur and Edna Holloman, brothers, Rede Holloman, Roy Holloman and William Holloman, sisters, Eileen Taylor and Esther Holloman. Geri is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Annette Ettinger; daughter, Karen Ettinger; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Felisha Ettinger; grandchildren, Ski-Laine DeLong and husband Dillon, Austin Ettinger, Hannah Ettinger, Warren Moulin, great-grandchild, Axeton DeLong and many nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Parker High School in 1951 and moved to Kansas City the summer following graduation. Geri retired from Kansas City Leavenworth Imaging in 1996 where she worked as a billing specialist and office assistant. Geri was an avid reader and loved gardening and baking. She was known for her pies and cakes and everyone always loved her brownies! She loved her family and always enjoyed being with them at the annual family picnics and New Year’s Day gatherings. Her grandchildren and great grandson were the light of her life. Just the mention of them would bring a smile to her face. The family wishes to thank all of those at Westchester Village and Phoenix Home Care and Hospice who so lovingly cared for her during her last days.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 17, 2018 and funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Both of these will be held at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to: American Cancer Society.
