Eugene F. Mika, age 90, formerly of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away August 15, 2018 at Kansas City Hospice House. Gene was born August 26, 1927 in Kansas City, Kansas the son of Clarence and Gertrude Mika. Gene is survived by his wife of 71 years, Barbara D. Mika, son Robert E. Mika (Rita), daughter Marilyn L. Reynolds (Lanny), grandchildren Christopher T. Mika (Courtney), Mikayla Reynolds and great granddaughter Abigail B. Mika. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and their families. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard T. Mika, sister Martha M. Lawler and granddaughter Katherine E. (Katie) Mika. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1945 and started his career at Dairy & Creamery Equipment Company (DC Tech) retiring after 50 years. As a craftsman of the highest degree, Gene could build anything including several boats, his own home of 62 years and many innovative stainless steel products at DC Tech. Gene was an avid outdoorsman and was happiest fishing at the lake or snorkeling in the Caribbean. Funeral visitation will take place Saturday, August 18, 2018, beginning at 9:00 AM with service at 10:30 AM., Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia St., Lenexa, Kansas. Entombment following the service at Resurrection Cemetery, 83rd and Quivira Rd, Lenexa, Ks. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Katherine E.
